Create CSR Microsoft IIS 8 and 8.5
The creation of a CSR in Microsoft IIS 8 and 8.5 is done directly on the Windows server.
In order to create a CSR in Microsoft Windows Server 2016 with IIS 10.0, use the functionality in your IIS Manager.
Open the IIS Manager, select your server from the Connections menu and select the menu option 'Server Certificates'. Go to the option 'Create Certificate Request' in the Actions menu on the right side of the screen.
This will open a new window. Enter the following information:
- Common name (The domain name for which the CSR is created)
- Organization (the company name, as has been entered in the registry of the Chamber of Commerce)
- Organizational unit (The name of the department, for example 'Sales')
- City/Locality (the name of the town or city your company is located in)
- State/province (The state or province your company is located in)
- Country/region (The country code in capital letters, for example US or GB)
Click on 'next'.
In the 'Cryptographic Service Provider Properties' window, select 'Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider' as the Cryptographic Service Provider. For 'Bit length', select '2048'.
Click on 'next'.
Select the folder where you want to save your CSR file, and click on 'finish'. The CSR file has now been saved in the location you indicated. When opened, the file will look like the following example:
