Email settings Outlook Express 6.0

Outlook Express 6.0 is an email client program that is widely used. The program has various applications. A major advantage of Outlook Express 6.0 is that you can put it on a server. This makes it possible to read and send emails from all around the world.

With Outlook Express 6.0, it is also possible to create multiple email accounts. In this manual you'll be guided step by step through this procedure.

  • First, open Outlook Express.
  • In the menu 'Tools', you select the option 'Accounts'.
  • Then choose the tab 'Mail'. Click on 'Add' to create a new email account to then you choose 'Mail'. The wizard to create an email account will now start.
  • In the first field, enter your name. Click 'Next'.


 

  • Fill in your e-mail address. Click 'Next'.



Here you enter the names of the mail servers:

  • There are two server types, namely POP3 and IMAP.
  • The POP server for incoming email is pop.networking4all.com and the IMAP server for incoming email is imap.networking4all.com.
  • The outgoing mail server depends on the provider (Click here for a list of SMTP servers). You can also use the one of Networking4all. This is smtp.networking4all.com.
  • Click 'Next'.

  • Fill in your login name and your password. Select 'Remember Password'. Then click 'Next'.


 

  • Your email account is created. Click 'Finish' to save the settings and exit.


 

  • Select in the menu 'Tools' the option 'Accounts' and choose the tab 'Email'.
  • In the tab 'Email', select the email account and then click 'Properties'.
  • Select the 'Advanced' tab. Here, check the following options: Outgoing Mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3/IMAP). Note, this is not supported by all providers.

The reason why you should use SSL is simple. This prevents that third parties can intercept your internet connection. So it will not be able for them to see your password or read your email messages.
