You may also check this list of well known providers and their SMTP server names.

What are attachments?

Attachments are digital items you send together (attached) with your e-mail message. An attachment might be a photo, a document, an excel-sheet, a presentation etc.

How dangerous are attachments?

Most virusses are spread through attachments, so be careful to open attachments from persons you do not know. Use an anti-virus program that scans your e-mail and your e-mail attachments. Disable macro's in MS Word or MS Excel files and be very careful with executable (.exe)files.

How to open attachments?

Most attachments are opened by a click or double-click on the file name, or right-click the filename and choose open or download. If you can't open the file, you probably don't have the program in which the file was created. For example someone sends you a Powerpoint file but you don't have the Powerpoint program on your computer so you are not able to open and view the file. Ask the sender to save the file in another more popular format like jpeg or pdf or search the internet if there is a viewer available.
