How long will it take before I can use the SSL certificate?

This depends on the type of certificate you ordered. Domain Name Validation (DV) certificates are usually issued within a few minutes, and take only a few minutes to install. Extended Validation (EV) certificates need more time to issuance, max. 10 workdays. 

Will the address bar of my browser turn green after installation of the SSL certificate?

Only if you ordered and installed an Extended Validation (EV) certificate, your address bar will turn green in the latest browsers like IE7 and Firefox 3.

What is Extended Validation (EV)?

An EV SSL Certificate activates the 'green address bar' with the latest web browsers like IE7 en Firefox 3, and visualises the identity of the website owner and the Certificate Authority. An EV SSL Certificate has the highest level of trust and security.

How do I sign a PDF document?

It is possible to digitally sign an Adobe PDF document. To do this you will need a USB Token.

Is there some guarantee and what is covered?

The Certificate Authority has the obligation to verify the credentials of the person, the organisation, server or other entity that is named in the certificate as the owner. As such they guarantee that this information is correct. The warranty depends mainly on the certificate type, the guaranteed amount might differ from a few thousand  up to a few million euros.

Is it possible to extend the period of my current SSL certificate?

No it is not. You order your certificate for a certain period, you cannot change this at another point in time. Wait till your certificate reaches its expiration date and then order another one for a period of several years.

Do I have to host my site with Networking4all?

No you don't. You can order and install a SSL certificate on any website and any IP-number. If you don't have your own unique IP-number, check with your provider to install the certificate for you.
