A “.sv” domain or a subdomain may not refer to official aspects or topics of the country without due authorization. Next, the (sub)domain may not be confusingly similar to some type of official or formal representation of the country El Salvador. The registry recommends that the domain name has a strong similarity with the name, abbreviation or initials of the applying entity and notices that the inclusion of the particles “sal”, “es”, “sv” must be avoided. You may request a subdomain (for example “.com.sv”) name without maintaining a permanent dedicated connection to the Internet. However, to implement the registration, it is necessary that a primary name server (DNS), and optionally at least one secondary name server, has been configured to solve the sub-addresses for the requested domain. The registry strongly recommends that the name servers are set on different networks and are located in different countries. Next, there may not be more than seven configured name servers directing to one domain name. Finally, it’s forbidden to make “lame delegations” in or under any DNS zone within the “.sv” domains. This means that the NS record for a domain or subdomain may not point to a computer that is not configured as an authoritative server for that zone. Notice that it may take 12 to 24 hours to update the zone update files (name servers). A domain name may not: - infringe or otherwise violate the rights of a third party. - be registered for illegal purposes. - infringe any applicable laws or regulations. - be registered and used in bad faith. - be registered if the applicant has no legitimate interests in the domain name. - be identical or similar to a trademark or service on which the applicant has no rights. - contain offensive names or names that are against the principles of the internet. - represent a concept within Internet: “internet”, “interNIC”, “IANA” etc. may not be registered.
