Parents or legal guardians above the age of 18 years may apply on behalf of a registrant who is below 18 years of age. However, if the registrant below the 18 years of age turns 18 years, the domain name must transfered to this 18 years old registrant instead of the parents or legal guardians. Every natural and legal person may register a ".sg" domain name. However, a valid Singapore postal address is necessary. Foreign applicants are also eligible to register a domain name, but they require a local agent having a valid Singapore postal address as administrative contact. |

It's possible to register a single or two character domain names. However the price for such domain is much higher as a normal, three till sixty-three character, domain. Besides the higher price, the "first come, first served" rule doesn't apply: the highest bidder in auction gets the single character domain name. In addition, it's possible to register a domain name which is made up entirely of numbers. The price of a numeric domain is also higher as a normal domain name. A numeric domain, containing eleven digits costs around 200 Singapore dollars. Finally it's possible to register a single, numeric domain name. However the pricing of such domain is very high, because they are so special. To give an indication: www.1.sg costs around 46000 Singapore dollars. If you decide to register a numeric or single character domain, you should contact Networking4all. Normal domain names need to contain at least three characters, may not begin or end with a dash, and may not contain a dash on the third and fourth position of the domain name. |

Some domain names may not be registered within the ".sg" domain. These reserved names are: - Singapore, Singapura, Singapore Government, Government, President and variations thereof or any word, abbreviated name, acronym that might suggest a link to the government. - names which contain "SGNIC", "NIC" and/or a variation thereof. - obscene, scandalous, indecent words (in any language) or words contrary to law or morality. - geographical names or names of countries, written in any language. - names of existing generic top-level domain names (i.e. ".com"). - names such as "www", "http", "https" or "http-www". - names which the registry, SGNIC, deems undesirable or unsuitable. Besides this, the domain name may: - not infringe any registered trade mark in Singapore. - not be identical to or confusingly similar to a registered trade mark, or a company or business name in Singapore. - not infringe upon the rights of any third parties in relation to any applicable treaties or international agreements. - not be contrary to public interest or order, national harmony, or offend good taste of decency, religious beliefs or any other social objective. If the registration period of the domain name expires, a redemption period of thirty days will start. In this period the registrant is able to renew it's domain name without any costs. If this period is over there will be a second grace period of thirty days. During this period the registrant is still able to renew it's domain name, but with extra costs, which go to the registry. If the registrant does not renew the domain name during these 60 days it will be open for registration for everyone. If the domain name is registrated, the applicant is required to have at least two operational domain name servers for the domain name. Each domain name server must be capable of being connected to the internet and capable of receiving queries for the domain name and responding thereto. |

This code is assigned by the registrar. Authorization Codes are the password for the domain and serve as an additional safety measure.
