There are no restrictions at this time: anyone may register a ".nu" domain name.

- contain letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-), or a combination of these.

- contain IDN supported characters, which are listed underneath:
ß à á â ã ä å æ ç è é ê ë ì í î ï ð ñ ò ó ô õ ö ø ù ú û ü ý þ ÿ

- start and end with an alphanumeric character, not a dash.

- do not contain a dash on the 3rd and 4th position (tagged domains).

The ".nu" domain name has a minimimum registration period of 1 year. After one year, you may renew your domain name for an additional year, two years, three years, four years or five years. However, the maximum registration period may not be exceeded, which is ten years.

Domain names can be as short as one or two characters. However, these premium domain names are more expensive as a domain name with three or more characters: domain names containing one character are about 500 euro a year, domain names containing two characters are about 250 euro a year and a domain name consisting out only three numeric is about 100 euro a years. Note that these prices may change over time. For the most up-to-date price you should contact Networking4all.

The whois service of the ".nu" domain is a little different from other whois services: the ".nu" whois service does not return any private or personal information (such as name, address, email address, or phone number) about the domain name's owner. However, if the domain name holder wants to publish this information, we will change this in the whois service and publish all the contact information in this whois service.

The redemptionperiod is 42 days for standard names. Premium names are released 24 to 48 hours after the expire date.

The domain name may not:
- be against the law.
- violate the right of third parties.
- be used for fraudulently obtaining personal information.
- be used for the distribution of SPAM.
- be racially or defamatory.

A domain name can not be transfered to another registrar within the first 60 days of the registration. Beginning on the 61st day after the initial registration a transfer is possible. In order to transfer a domain name to Networking4all, the registrant should contact the old registrar and tell them that you want to transfer your domain name. Next, the registrant has to contact Networking4all and tell us that you want to transfer your domain name to us. Then we will request the transfer. If the transfer is requested the registry will send the old registrar and us an email with the transfer details, which the old regisrar has to approve within five days. If the old registrar approves or does not reply within five days the transfer will be started. If the transfered is made successfully, the registry will send an email with the transfer confirmation to the old registrar and us. You'll have to pay 19,95 euros for a transfer of a .nu domain name.

For each transfer of registration, from a current registrant to another, there is a one-time fee of 150 EUR*. Plus:
One-year registration fee of 39,- EUR* for a Standard domain name
One-year registration fee of 550,- EUR* for a one-character Premium name
One-year registration fee of 275,- EUR* for a two-character Premium name
One-year registration fee of 150,- EUR* for a three-character Premium Numeric name
