Any identifiable human individual over the age of 18 years and any legally recognized statutory entity may register a ".ms" domain name.

Every subdomain is also available for everyone, unless stated otherwise under the paragraph subdomains.

- contain only letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-), or a combination of these.
- start and end with an alphanumeric character, not a dash.
- do not contain a dash on the 3rd and 4th position (tagged domains).

Domain names may not be offensive, racially, indecent, obscene, immoral or be against the applicable laws and regulations of Montserrat. Next, it's not allowed to create, transmit, store, link or distribute materials which is against the law or the registry considers to be unreasonable (for example pornographic or defamatory material or SPAM).

Domain names are active on the internet if there is at least configured one working name server. However, the registry recommends to configure two name servers.

The domain name may not:
- be identical or confusingly similar to a personal name, company, business or other legal or trading name as registered with the relevant Montserrat agency, or a trade or service mark in which a third party complainant has uncontested rights.
- be primarily for the purpose of unlawfully disrupting the business or activities of another person.
- created in order to create a likelihood of confusion with respect to the third party complainant’s intellectual or industrial property rights.
- for the purpose of unlawfully selling, renting or otherwise transferring the Domain name to an entity or to a commercial competitor of an entity.
- be registered in order to block the registration for a name or mark in which a third party has superior intellectual or industrial property rights.
- infringes upon the intellectual and/or industrial property rights of another person.
