Only legal persons registered in Macao, self-employed persons registered in Macao and Macao trademarks may register a ".mo" domain name. Natural persons can not register a ".mo" domain name. Note that ".mo" domains can only be registered if the domain name is first registered under ".com.mo", ".edu.mo", ".org.mo", ".net.mo" or ".gov.mo". For example: in case you want to register "www.test.mo", you have to register "www.test.com.mo" first and then "www.test.mo". In order to complete a registration the applicant has to submit documents. For a ".mo" registration it's necessary that the documents for the subdomains are submitted (see the paragraph subdomains to check which documents are necessary for the subdomains). Next, applicants who apply for a domain name in regards to a trademark / patent must submit a copy of the registration certificate of the trademark / patent issued by the Macao Government. If the applicant is not the trademark or patent holder, then a notarized written consent signed by the actual holder must be submitted. Note that these documents must be within 1 year validity and must be received by the registry within 8 days after the domain application. The registered domain name must be identical to the entity, trademark or patent registered within the Macaeo SAR. However, the applicant can try to register a domain name which is not identical, but has a link with the aforementioned names. In this last case, the domain name will be published on the Macao Network Information Center website for a period of thirty days and if there are no objections within these thirty days, the registered domain name will be approved.
