There are no restrictions at this time: anyone (natural persons, companies or organisations) may register a ".lv" domain name. For the registration of a ".lv" domain name, the applicant has to provide a VAT number. In case the domain name is registered on behalf of a natural person, this person has to provide his or her personal ID number. For some Third Level ".lv" domains there are special requirements. These special requirements are listed under their paragraph (see: sub-domains). If there are no special requirements, there is no text under the relevant paragraph. |

The domain name may: - only contain letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-) or a combination of these. - only start and end with an alphanumeric character, not a dash. - not contain a dash on the 3rd and 4th position (tagged domains). - contain IDN supported characters. |

The domain name may not: - infringe upon the rights of third parties. - violate the existing legislation of the Republic of Latvia. - contain rude, indecent or offensive names, expressions, or character strings. Full name of an individual as a domain name may be registered only by the person with the respective full name. Between the persons with identical full names the preference shall be given to the person who submitted the application first. The governmental or municipal institutions of Latvia can register one domain name per organisation free of any charges for the period of one year, including the right to renew the domain name registration. A natural person with the domicile in Latvia has the right to register one domain name under generic second level domain .id.lv free of any charges for the period of one year, including the rights to renew the domain name registration. In case of death of a natural person the heirs are eligible to legally acquire the usage right of the domain name that was registered in the name of the deceased by notifying Networking4all and taking over the payment responsibility until the approval of the inheritance. The payments for the right to use the domain name made by the heir give no advantages over any other heir. |

If you want to move your ".lv" domain to Networking4all, you should contact your current registrar and request to send the Domain Authorization Code (also referred to as a authcode, Authinfo code or transfer code). This code is assigned by the registrar. Authorization Codes are the password for the domain and serve as an additional safety measure. The verification codes ensure that only the domain name owner can relocate the domain. |
