Restrictions:
A domain name with the suffix ".com.hk" and "公司.hk" is for Commercial entities registered in HKSAR (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region).

The domain name requesting company needs to provide a copy of their Business Registration Certificate from the Inland Revenue Department of the HKSAR Government, or a Certificate of Registration of Overseas Company from the Companies Registry of the HKSAR Government to Networking4all as documentary proof when applying to register a ".com.hk" or ".公司.hk" Domain Name.

All residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China HKSAR are eligible to register a ".idv.hk" or ".個人.hk" domain name.

To register a ".idv.hk" domain name, the applicant needs to provide Networking4all a copy of his / her HKID (or any other documentary proof that the applicant is a resident of HKSAR).

Any Chinese Domain Name registered under ".個人.hk" must be based on and exactly reflect the legal name of the registrant as appearing in his or her HKID (or other documentary proof provided).

The domain name requesting entity need to provide documentary proof to Networking4all that the requesting entity is a not-for-profit statutory body in HKSAR, a not-for-profit entity registered with the Companies Registry, a not-for-for profit entity with a Certificate of Registration of a Society from the Hong Kong Police Force, or another approved "not-for-profit" entity when applying to register a .org.hk or .組織.hk Domain Name.

This domain is unrestricted, however, a company registration number is required (for organizations) or a faxed copy of the personal ID/passport (for individuals) is required for registration.

Minors are not eligible to register a Domain Name unless the application is jointly executed by the parent or guardian of the minor. The parent or guardian must meet the eligibility requirements and provide the required documentary proof, if any, for the type of Domain Name registration which is the subject of the application. Children under the age of eleven may not register a domain name.
Second and Third Level English Domain names:
- The domain name may not begin with a dash "-" or dot ".".
- contain only letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-), or a combination of these.
- the last character of the domain name has to be a letter or a number.
- do not contain a dash on the 3rd and 4th position (tagged domains).
- A domain name cannot exceed 63 characters.

Chinese Domain names:
- Contain atleast one Chinese character.
- may contain English letters (a-z), Arabian numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-)
- The domain name may not begin with a dash "-" or dot ".".
- start and end with an alphanumeric character, not a dash.
- do not contain a dash on the 3rd and 4th position (tagged domains).
- A domain name cannot exceed 15 characters.

Certain domain names are refused by the registry:
- 1-character words
- generic top-level domains which include, but are not limited to, sponsored top-level domains.
- full names or abbreviations of all local regions or districts.
- 2-character country codes as defined in ISO 3166.
- common surnames or family names.
- any other Domain Name included on the Reserve List.

And also, in the case of Chinese Domain Names, some names are refused by the registry:
- the Chinese translation of generic top level domains and sponsored top level domains.
- names of countries or regions that use Chinese Characters as their language.
- common technical terms related to domain names and related international name associations.
- types and levels of schools and other educational institutions in Hong Kong.


In the case of .hk, .idv.hk and .??.hk Domain Names, there are also certain names being refused:
- domain names which contain your surname or family name.
- domain names which contain word(s) (including word(s) of phonetic equivalence) that are, according to their ordinary signification, a surname or a family name.

The words "bank", "insurance" and "assurance" (or translated in another language) may only be used in a domain name if the apllicant has permission to use these words.
