Postsecondary institutions, within the United States, that are institutionally accredited may register a “.edu” domain name. Institutionally accredited means that the entire institution (and not just particular programs of the institution) is accredited by agencies which are on the U.S. Department of Education’s list of Nationally Recognized Accrediting Agencies. These entities include both "Regional Institutional Accrediting Agencies" and "National Institutional and Specialized Accrediting Bodies" recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
The registry thus requires applicants to be located within the United States (including US territories and possessions); or to be licensed, chartered, or incorporated within the United States (including US territories and possessions); or to be otherwise officially recognized by a US state or federal government agency (including US territories and possessions).
If you are not located within the United States but believe you meet one of the other qualifications as a US institution AND are institutionally accredited by one of the Nationally Recognized Accrediting Agencies we recognize, you should contact the registry EDUCAUSE.
Unfortunately is Networking4all not eligible to register a ".edu" domain name since the registrations have to be directly to the registry.

The domain name may not be a generic name, but must reasonably represent the name of the educational institution for which the domain name holder registers the domain name.
An institution may only register one domain name under ".edu". This minimum and maximum registration period is one year and may not exceed this period. If the domain name is not renewed at the end of the registration period, it will be placed in a 30 days redemption period (a period in which the applicant can not make changes in the domain name until the domain name is renewed. During this period other persons are not eligible to register the current domain, except the current holder. If the redemption period is over, the domain name is open for registration by anyone).
Atleast two name servers must be configured.
IPv6 is supported.
