To register a domain name with the suffix “.cy” the applicant has to be a permanent Cyprus resident or must have a registered company / office in Cyprus. Besides this, the applicant has to be at least 18 years old. Finally, if the applicant is a natural person, he or she has to send a copy of his or her identification card.

The domain name which contain geographic names (which identify geographical locations as they are found on official maps) can be issued only to the relevant local authority. Applications comprising trade marks, corporate names, etc, and which include a real geographical name, must include the ‘'entity'' name in the requested domain name like BV, BVBA or Inc. Besides this the domain name may not imply rights with respect to a name or a trademark. It is your responsibility to ensure that the name applied for does not conflict with third parties’ copyright, trade marks, famous names, or other intellectual property rights or the laws of Cyprus and ICANN Dispute Policy.

A maximum of 10 Domain Names allocations will be allowed per Registrant who is a legal person. We may consider exceptions to allow the allocation of additional Domain Names upon demonstration of a need for additional names.

One Domain Name will be allowed per Registrant who is a natural person. Exceptions can be made in cases where the individual is also a member of an organization in which case he/she can register an additional domain name on behalf of this organisation.

The second level domains ac.cy, net.cy, gov.cy, org.cy, biz.cy, , pro.cy, name.cy, ekloges.cy, tm.cy, ltd.cy, press.cy and parliament.cy are of restricted nature, and require proof, solely in our discretion, that you are entitled to use same.

After registration of the domain name you will receive two invoices. Invoices that you receive after each year as well. The bill on behalf of the registry is the cost of the domain name itself, the bill on behalf Networking4all the amount for the DNS management. The registry doesn't work with registrars and sends the bill directly to the user of the domain name.

You can easily manage your domain name in the system of Networking4all.

- contain only letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-), or a combination of these

- start and end with an alphanumeric character, not a dash.

- do not contain a dash on the 3rd and 4th position (tagged domains).

Removal of a Domain Name can be requested by the Registrant in writing by sending a signed letter. No other method is permitted.

Please notice that .com.cy domains must be renewed on December 31st of every year; for example if you request your domain on august 2 2010, you will have to renew it on December 31st 2010.

A Domain Name cannot be transferred in any case to any other person. Tranfers are not applicable because registrations are only possible via the registry and not via the registrars.

However, a transfer to another registrar (to Networking4all for example) is possible. Therefore you can submit it in our portal or send us an email.
