The domain name holder guarantees that:
- the registration is submitted correctly.
- the domain name does not infringe or violate any rights of third parties.
- the domain name is not registered for any unlawful purpose.
- the domain name does not discriminate anyone.
- the domain name is not contrary to the public order or morality.
- the domain name is not the name of a trademark, which is registrated by another party.
Domain status:
The status of a domain is the condition of a given domain name at a particular moment; a status can be verified via the WHOIS function.
FREE:
Domain name is available for registration except if it does not comply with the Terms & Conditions
REGISTERED:
Domain name is in use, therefore not available for registration; the agent manages the domain.
ON HOLD:
This is an exception of REGISTERED, this means that an ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution, i.e., in Cepina) or lawsuit is pending. This is not visible to the outside world because the domain stays active; however, no changes can be made to the domain by the agent.
OUT OF SERVICE:
Domain names of which the agent stopped being agent (failure or termination of the contract)and whose due date has passed, are accorded this status. The licence right of these names can only be renewed through a new agent.
QUARANTINE:
Names deactivated by the licensee (through a registrar) or by the registrar himself (e.g. when the renewal invoice was not settled on time) will no longer be immediately released but will be blocked for 40 days. These names are not working, but are NOT YET released.
NOT ALLOWED: (new since june 1st 2004)
The domain name you inserted is not valid in the .be zone. This might be the case because unvalid characters appear or (and this is also new) because the domain name does not comply with the .be registration rules (illegal characters, name is too short, too long, starting or ending with a dash, or letter-letter-dash-dash combination).
Example: when asking for the status of the domain name 'a.be', whois used to respond with: 'Status: Free'. This means that the domain name has not been registered (and might induce the idea that the domain name can be registered, which is not the case, as one-letter domain names are not allowed under the .be zone). From 1 June 04, whois will respond with 'Status: NOT ALLOWED'.

CHANGE REGISTRAR
This is the new transfer procedure to be used from Wednesday 15 June 2011.
A domain name is registered for the registrant and not for the registrar who manages it. This means that you are free to change to another registrar at any time.
Moving a domain name to a new registrar: step by step
1.Check your e-mail address
To be able to move your domain name to a new registrar you need a transfer code. DNS.be sends the transfer code to the registrant's e-mail address as mentioned in our registration system. It is clear that it is very important to have a correct e-mail address. You can check your e-mail address by filling in the domain name (without .be) in the whois tool on our website (top right corner). If the e-mail address is no longer valid, you need to contact your current registrar requesting him to update it.
2.Request transfer code
Ask your current registrar to requests the transfer code linked to your domain name with DNS.be. DNS.be sends the transfer code to the registrant's e-mail address, as mentioned in our registration system. If your current registar doesn't want to request the auth code Networking4all can do this for you.
3.Pass on the transfer code to your new registrar
You pass on the transfer code to the registrar to whom you wish to move your domain name.
4.Set up name server
The new registrar will use your details to set up a name server. To avoid problems it is best to take this step before proceeding with step 6.
5.Submit the transfer request
The new registrar submits a transfer to the DNS.be registration system using the transfer code he received from the registrant.
6.Process the transfer
The internal application at DNS.be simply checks to see whether the code provided corresponds with the domain name for which the transfer is being requested. If the code-check is positive, the transfer is completed immediately and the registrar is notified of the change.
An e-mail is sent to the former registrar to inform him that the domain name concerned is transferred away. The DNS.be name servers and the WHOIS will show the new data immediately.
7.Remove old information
The former registrar removes all information about this domain name from his name servers.
CHANGE REGISTRANT
This is the new transfer procedure to be used from Wednesday 15 June 2011.
The new transfer procedure doesn't make a distinction between a change of registrar and the change of registrant, with or without a change of registrar (formerly known as a trade).
Moving a domain name to a new registrant: step by step
1.Request transfer code
The current registrant contacts his registrar or a new registrar from our list of official DNS.be registrars. This registrar requests the transfer code linked to your domain name with DNS.be.
2.Receive transfer code
DNS.be sends the transfer code to the registrant's e-mail address as mentioned in our registration system. It is clear that it is very important to have a correct e-mail address. You can check your e-mail address filling in the domain name (without .be) in the whois tool on our website (top right corner). If the e-mail address is no longer valid, you need to contact you current registrar requesting him to update it.
