Two hyphens in a row as the third and fourth characters of adomain name are not allowed. The name must not begin or end with a hyphen. Length: domain names below .co.at and .or.at: at least one character (e.g. t3.co.at and s.or.at), domain names below .at: at least three characters. Maximum length: 63 characters. Austria domain names support IDN. Underneath are 34 permitted characters listed: "ä", "ë", "ö", "ü", "à", "á", "â", "è", "é", "ê", "ì", "í", "î", "ï", "ò", "ó", "ô", "ù", "ú", "û", "ý", "ÿ", "ã", "å", "æ", "ç", "ð", "ñ", "õ", "ø", "œ", "š", "þ" and "ž" |

On registration of a domain, at least two but not more than eight name-servers have to be specified. The data supplied in the application must exactly correspond with the technical configuration of these nameservers. The domain holder must ensure that all specified nameservers are constantly available. An IDN must not be included in the description of the nameservers, but solely the ACE-string. "First come, first served" means that domain registrations are processed in the order of their receipt and that the first correct application leads to a delegation. Each electronic application gets a unique ticket number upon receipt, which makes the order clearly visible at any time. the current reload times of the nic.at root nameservers (10:00am, 1:30pm, 5:30pm and 10:00pm daily), there will be an additional daily nameserver reload at 6:00am as of 4/2/2008. |
