.asia is a generic top-level domain sponsored by the DotAsia Organization, with the back-end registry operated by Afilias. It was approved by ICANN on 19 October 2006 as a sponsored TLD. It will serve as a regional domain for companies, organisations, and individuals based in the region of Asia, Australia, and the Pacific.

If the applicant lives in this area and can prove that he or she lives in this area, he of she can request an ".asia" domain name.

For companies with a trademark (registered marks) applies the same conditions as for individuals, but the applicant must prove that he or she is the owner, co-owner or assignee of the company with the trademark. Besides the identification-proof of the applicant, the trademark has to be identified too. Therefore the company has to be registered in a trademark office or trademark registry that corresponds to one of the localities described by the WIPO Standard ST.3 code. The following information about registered mark(s) is required:
- The (exact) name of the registered mark
- Registration Number: Registration or serial number of the registered mark’s current registration. This number must enable the Verification Agent to access the correct registration entry in the trademark registry or trademark office;
- Registration Locality: Location where the right is established using the corresponding WIPO Standard ST.3 two-letter code (a list of the codes accepted is included in Annex A: WIPO Standard ST.3);
- Application Date: Date the Registered Mark was applied
- Registration Date: Date on which the registration of registered mark becomes effective.
- Nature of Entitlement : Whether the Applicant (corresponding to the Registrant Contact) holds the trademark as the original “OWNER”, “CO-OWNER” or “ASSIGNEE”.

If both identifications are succesfully completed, the domain name belongs to the company with the trademark. note: if you register a domain name for a trademark, the domainname must be an exact match with the registered trademark.

Partial match with a Registered Mark is not acceptable as a Domain Name Applied For. Certain exceptions and special considerations are provided for however, and accepted as an Acceptable Match with the Registered Mark:
- Exceptions for Spaces, Punctuations and Special Characters
- Exceptions for Registered Mark Type or Entity Type Identifiers
- Exceptions for the term “Asia”
- Exceptions for Registered Marks Containing an Existing TLD as a Suffix
- Considerations for Romanization and Transliterations
- Considerations for Figurative Marks

For example, a Registered Mark: “ABCD.CN”, may apply for: “ABCD.Asia”;
or a company registration for: “WXYZ.SG Co. Ltd.” may apply for “WXYZ.Asia”.

Some domain names are reserverd and aren't allowed to use. For example Governmental Reserved Names include the names or variations of countries, economies, cities, municipalities, regions, provinces, governments, government departments or other similar bodies, and other domains that are directly derived from or related to official governmental initiatives e.g. for the promotion of trade or tourism.

Note: if the domain name is requested much, it's possible that there will be an auction (which will be started and controlled by the .ASIA registry) between serveral applicants.

IPv6 is supported
If you want to move your .asia domain to Networking4all, you should contact your current registrar and request to send the Domain Authorization Code (also referred to as a authcode, Authinfo code or transfer code). This code is assigned by the registrar. Authorization Codes are the password for the domain and serve as an additional safety measure. The verification codes ensure that only the domain name owner can relocate the domain.

Note: a transfer is only possible if the domain name exists more then 60 days.
